Configuration for Netscape Communicator 4.X

First, Start up Netscape 4.X by double clicking on the icon on your desktop.

1. From the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences".

2. On the left of the window there will be a mini window with "Apperances", "Navigator", "Mail & Groups", "Composer", "Offline", and "Advanced" in it.

3. If "Navigator" is not highlighted, do so now by clicking on it once with your mouse. To
the left of the window make sure the "Home Page" button has a black dot in it.

4. Where it says "Location" type "http://www.cchono.com"

5. On the left of the window, double click on "Mail & Groups". There should be "Identity", "Messages", "Mail Server", "Groups Server", and "Directory."

6. Select "Identity".

7. Fill in the "Your name:" and "Email adress:" test boxes.

8. Select "Mail Server".

9. Where it says "Mail server user name:" type in your user name you use to dial up that you gave us when you signed up.

10. Where it says "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server", type smtp.cchono.com .

11. Where it says "Incoming mail server", type pop.cchono.com .

12. Make sure the POP3(messages and folders....) button has a black dot in it.

13. If you are accessing your mail at home, make sure you uncheck the box that says "Leave messages......" Other than that, have the box checked.

14. Select "Groups Server"".

15. Where it says "Discussion Groups (News) Server" type news.cchono.com , and
where it says "Port" type "119".

16. Double click "Advanced".

17. Make sure "Cache", "Proxies", and "Disk Space" are listed below "Advanced" on
the left.

18. We recommend that you accept the default settings that are displayed in your "Cache" menu. We also recommend that the "Once per session" button is darkened.

19. Select "Proxies".

20. Make sure the "Direct connection to the Internet" button is darkened.

21. Click Ok on the bottom of the window.

22. Phew! You are now ready to surf the internet, read and send e-mail, and go to news groups. Bon Voyage!
