Configuration of Microsoft Outlook 97 to handle Internet E-mail
Revision 02/13/99

This procedure will provide the necessary instructions to configure Microsoft Outlook to send and receive Internet E-mail. Outlook is a very powerful communications
application, and is capable of many functions. Please consult you manuals for using the program's other features.

Please be advised that Outlook can very easily overwelm you computer if not configured properly. One of it's features is to allow you to use Microsoft Word to edit your e-mail. It is a nice touch, but our experience is that even a computer with 48 MB of RAM is slowed way down when this option is used. We recommend that you not
use this feature unless you have at least 64 MB of RAM.

It is assumed that you have already configured a dial-up networking connection.

  1. Open Outlook 97.

  2. Select the Tools menu and then select Services.

  3. Select Internet Mail and then select Properties.

  4. On the General page check the Full Name box contains your name as you want it to appear on your email messages. For example Joe User or Mr Joe User.

  5. In the Email Address box type in your Cyber City email address. For new users this is your Cyber City User Name with @cchono.com after it. For example username@cchono.com

  6. The Internet Mail Server box should contain pop3.cchono.com

  7. The Account Name box should contain your Cyber City User Name.

The Password box should contain your Cyber City password. Please check that the User Name and Password that you type in are not in the wrong capitalisation because User Names and passwords are case sensitive. The password you type in shows up as a bunch of stars to keep it private. Click the Advanced Options button.

  8. The Forward all outbound mail to the following mail server box should contain smtp.cchono.com

  9. Click the OK button.

  10. Select the Connection tab.

  11. Check that Connect using the Modem is selected.

  12. Check that Dial using the following connection is your Cyber City connection.

  13. All done! Click the OK button, and then click OK again and restart Outlook to save your changes.
