Configuration of Microsoft Outlook 98 to handle Internet E-mail
Revision 03/03/98

This procedure will provide the necessary instructions to configure Microsoft Outlook 98 to send and receive Internet E-mail. Outlook 98 is a very powerful communications application, and is capable of many functions. Please consult your manual or the available help files in the program for using it's other features.

It is assumed that you have already configured a dial-up networking connection.

  1. Open Outlook.

  2. Select the Tools menu and then select Services.

  3. Select Internet Email and then select Properties.

  4. On the General page the Mail Account name should be something descriptive to easily identify the mail account, e.g. "Cyber City Email", you can type in anything you want in here to name the account settings.

  5. The Name box contains your name as you want it to appear on your email messages. For example Joe User or Mr Joe Users.

  6. The Organization box is optional and typically used for Company names. If you are a home user then leave this box empty.

  7. In the Email Address box type in your Cyber City email address. For new users this is your Cyber City User Name with @cchono.com after it. For example username@cchono.com

  8. Type in your email address in the Reply Address box as well.

  9. Select the Servers tab at the top of the window.

  10. The Outgoing Mail(SMTP) box should contain smtp.cchono.com

  11. The Incoming Mail(POP3) box should contain pop.cchono.com

  12. In the Incoming Mail Server section Log on Using should be selected.

  13. The Account Name box should contain your Cyber City User Name.

The Password box should contain your Cyber City password. Please check that the User Name and Password that you type in are not in the wrong capitalisation because User Names and passwords are case sensitive. The password you type in shows up as a bunch of stars to keep it private. Nothing else needs to be selected on this page.

  14. Select the Connection tab.

  15. Check that Connect using my phone line is selected.

  16. Check that the menu below Use the following Dial Up Networking connection shows your Cyber City connection.

  17. All done! Click the OK button, and then click OK again and restart Outlook to save your changes.
