2000 Dial-Up Instructions
- Right click on My Network Places, and left click
on properties.
- (Alternate
Method): Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel,
double-click on Network and Dial-Up Connections.
- Double-click
Make New Connection.
Click Next.
- Select
Dial-Up to the Internet, click Next.
- Select
the last choice "I want to set up my Internet connection
manually...", and click Next.
- Select
the first choice "I connect through a phone line and a modem",
and click Next.
- Uncheck
"Use area code and dialing rules", and enter the phone number 792-2071. Click Advanced.
- PPP
should be selected. Check "Disable
LCP Extensions". Click OK. Click Next.
- Enter
your email address in the User name field. Enter your password in the Password field. Click Next.
- In
the Connection Name field, name the connection Cyber City. Click Next.
- When
it asks if you want to setup an Internet mail account, select Yes,
and click Next.
- In
the Display Name field, type your name. Click Next.
- In
the Email Address field, type your email address (for example,
username@cchono.com). Click Next.
- My
Incoming Mail server should read POP3. In the Incoming Mail server fiekl, type pop.cchono.com. In the Outgoing Mail server field, type smtp.cchono.com . Click Next.
- In
the Account Name field, type your username. In the Password field, type
your password. Make sure that Remember
Password is checked. Log on
using SPA should NOT be checked. Click Next.
- Uncheck
"To connect to the Internet immediately...". Click Finish.
- In
the Network & Dial-up Connections window, right click the Cyber
City icon, and left click on Properties.
- In
the General window, make sure "Use dialing rules"
is NOT checked. "Show icon in taskbar when connected"
should be checked. There are no alternate numbers to be dialed. Click
the Configure button under your modem listing near the top of the
window.
- Maximum
Speed should read as follows:
- For a 56K modem: 57600
- For a 28.8/33.6 modem: 38400
- For a 14.4 modem: 19200
- All
3 hardware features should be checked. Show terminal window should NOT
be checked. Enable modem speaker is up to the user. Click OK.
- Click
Networking tab. Type of
Dial-up Server I am calling should read “PPP: Windows 95/98/NT
4/2000, Internet”.
Components checked should be:
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and
Client for Microsoft Networks.
Click OK.
- Drag
the Cyber City icon from the Network & Dial-up Connections window to
the desktop. Click Yes.
- To
connect to the Internet, double click the Shortcut to Cyber City
on your desktop, and click Dial.
